Bob Scott reporting in his weekly Insights column.
Bronto Software lost slightly less than $2 million on $37.2 million in revenue for the year ended December 31. The numbers were reported this week by NetSuite, which purchased the cloud-based commerce marketing company this year for about $200 million. It had a cumulative shareholder deficit of $1.7 million. NetSuite did not report comparable year-earlier results for the acquired company. It did report Bronto had a loss of $1.6 million on $10.8 million in revenue for the first quarter ended March 31. Proforma results for that quarter showed NetSuite’s historical loss of $22.7 million rose to $25.4 million. Historical revenue of $164.8 million rose to $175.6 million pro forma. At the time the purchase was announced, the companies said Bronto’s marketing automation platform is used by more than 1,400 customers. Founded in 2002 by CEO Joe Colopy, Bronto employed more than 220 people and also had offices in London, England, and Sydney, Australia.
